medium onion, sliced

small red potatoes, cut into fourths

1/2-pound beef round steak, cut into 8 serving pieces

tablespoon packed brown sugar

1/2

teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2

teaspoon salt

1/4

teaspoon pepper

1

package (1.8 ounces) tomato beef flavor (oxtail) soup mix

1

can (12 ounces) beer

Preparation

Place onion and potatoes in 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker. Arrange beef on top. Sprinkle beef with brown sugar, nutmeg, salt, pepper and soup mix (dry). Pour beer over all.

Cover and cook on low heat setting 8 to 10 hours or until beef is tender.

Spoon pan juices over beef before serving.
