large cucumbers, peeled or unpeeled, cut into about 2x1/2-inch sticks

medium tomatoes, cut into wedges

small onion, sliced

cup vegetable oil

cup lemon juice

teaspoon salt

teaspoon chopped fresh basil leaves or 1/4 teaspoon dried basil leaves

garlic clove, finely chopped

Preparation

Arrange cucumbers, tomatoes and onion in 2-quart shallow glass or plastic dish. Stir together remaining ingredients except bacon flavor bits; pour over vegetables.

Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours to blend flavors; sprinkle with bacon flavor bits just before serving.
