Ingredients
3 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and coarsely chopped
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Pinch of coarse salt
Pinch of sugar
Preparation
Place all ingredients and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat, until apples are very soft, breaking up apples with a fork, about 25 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Applesauce may be stored in an airtight container, refrigerated, for up to 3 days.
